There but for the grace of God . . .

It's another slow news day in Missouri. I had another job interview today and it did not go too well. Does the word "overqualified" mean "too old"? I'm beginning to wonder. I keep thinking God has some other plan for me and I keep slogging along on my book, so I guess as long as there's food on the table, and there always is, and the lights are still on, and they always are, and I can pay for my health insurance, and I do (barely) every month, then all is well.

Tonight we went over to the septegenarians for dinner. I cooked a big fat ham with the same cranberry glaze I made when I almost set my s/o's house on fire. As we were getting ready to put the food on the table, my s/o's mother told his father to help. "I'm not going to do another thing today," he said as he sat at the head of the table waiting to eat.

"Well, I worked," his mother said.

"Yeah," he asked, "When?"

"While you were in Korea," she said testily.

"Right," he said, "Rosy the Riveter," although he used her first name instead of Rosy.

We fell out laughing. They are a comedy show, those two.

I'm heading for Phoenix on Wednesday for five days and while I hate the travel, there's nothing like seeing my friends that I got clean with who remember me when, or "back in the day" as they say now. I've lived in a bunch of areas and regions and traveled extensively throughout the US attending meetings wherever I went, but I can honestly say that Phoenix has the best Narcotics Anonymous meetings I've ever been to. I'm sure you feel the same about your area.

So until tomorrow, have a great day.
